Conversion rules

Objects map to YAML mappings, arrays to sequences, null to null. Strings that could be misread as numbers, booleans or YAML syntax (colons, leading/trailing spaces, special characters) are automatically double-quoted, so the output round-trips back to identical JSON.

FAQ

Why is my string quoted?

Values like "123", "true", "yes" or strings containing : # [] must be quoted in YAML to stay strings. The converter quotes only when necessary.

Can I convert YAML back to JSON?

Full YAML parsing (anchors, multi-line scalars) requires a heavier parser — planned for a future YAML to JSON tool.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser.
